Twelve 2 storey Townhouses, designed by Willcox & Associates Architects and built by Chadwick Builders within the Oyster Harbour land development in Albany, were occupied within a day of their release last month.
The townhouses – 8 x 2 bedrooms and 4 x 1 bedrooms, are a vibrant addition to the estate as they feature painted James Hardie cladding in an array of colours, as well as all the latest modern housing appointments.
Each townhouse also conforms to the 6 Star energy rating requirements.
Both builder and architect specialize in framed construction in WA south west coastal areas, and the success of this project will no doubt lead to similar housing constructions.
These townhouses overlook the impressive man made water feature and lake of the estate, and form part of the future planned Village Centre of Oyster Harbour – featuring retail and other commercial facilities.
Rather than sell to the open market, the townhouses were immediately taken by Community Housing Albany – which provides much needed long term housing solutions.
The construction project only took 8 months, and was well within the $2.62million budget and schedule set by the Oyster Harbour Joint Venture under the Housing Stimulus Funding program.
Due to the strong interest shown in this project, the developers are now encouraged to provide moremedium density sites overlooking parklands and adjacent to the Village Centre for this land development and other similar projects.
Residents of Oyster Harbour have unlimited access to impressive landscaping, boardwalks and parklands, right at their doorstep. Stage 1 has already sold out, and Stage 2 and 2a selling fast – making this master planned community in Albany a vibrant place to live.
The Oyster Harbour development is a joint venture between developers Heath Development Company and the Department of Housing and Works. Upon completion Oyster Harbour will provide 2100 much needed residential homesites for Albany, as well as develop more affordable housing.
