The wait is finally over – after much anticipation the planned public beach access, kiosk and picnic areas at Jindalee Beachside Estate have just been given the go ahead by the City of Wanneroo, with construction to commence in late September 2008. The planning process for this project commenced in 2001.
Jindalee Beachside Estate is one of the Perth’s most successful and sought after land developments in the northern suburbs. This approval of the cutting edge beach design will further enhance this 900 lot development, which comprises of traditional and cottage style lots, many of which have uninterrupted ocean views and beach access.
The development has now reached the stage where all future land releases will be heading towards the beachfront and have ocean views.
The architecturally designed area consists of three public access points to the beach, two picnic areas and a kiosk. This area to be located at the end of Jindalee Boulevard has been likened to the very popular Clarko Reserve at Trigg Beach.
Once construction is underway the central node, beach access and southern picnic area will be developed first, followed by the kiosk and northern picnic area. Construction of the initial stage is expected to take 20 weeks.
The grassed picnic areas will feature chairs and tables, play equipment, BBQs and ample parking. The road surfaces surrounding the area will have a high quality finish and contain interesting designs, adding to the beachfront feel.
Two areas of public seating will be provided at the kiosk – a timber deck and a protected area, as well as housing toilets and some surf life saving facilities. Tenancy of the kiosk will be sought through a tender process upon completion.
The central node will also ultimately contain apartment living plus 800 square meters of exclusive retail and restaurants.
Jindalee Beachside Estate Project Manager, Brian Newman, said that ‘the residents of Jindalee Beachside Estate and the surrounding areas have waited a long time for this type of accessibility to the beach. This fantastic area along Perth’s coastline can now be fully utilised and enjoyed by all’.
