Finally the end of the Road at Lower King

21 July 2011

Just when drivers thought they were at last having an uninterrupted run along the picturesque Lower King Road, Albany – there is going to be more disruption…. for the last time in order to create the new and permanent entry into the Oyster Harbour land development.

Lower King, the main road leading into the estate, has undergone a number of reconfigurations since the land development was first started in late 2007 and this latest work adjacent to the Hooper Road intersection will be the last.

The Oyster Harbour Joint Venture has just awarded a $1.1million contract to APH Civil Contractors to construct a roundabout and the new estate entry. Construction will commence late July 2011 and take four months to complete.

The newly constructed entry off Lower King Road along Stranmore Boulevard not only provides a new access to the estate but also a landscaped promenade frontage to what will become the Oyster Harbour Village Centre. This centre will contain shops, offices, medical suites and will be surrounded by medium density residential development.

As these road works near completion, the next stage of the estate, Stage 2b will commence construction and will comprise 51 fully serviced building sites.

The Oyster Harbour development is a joint venture between developers Heath Development Company and the Department of Housing and Works. Upon completion Oyster Harbour will provide 2100 much needed residential homesites for Albany, as well as develop more affordable housing.
